Business Travel in Chicago

Chicago is one of the main centers in the country when you want to do business. Here, you are going to find that it is essentially the center of the midwestern United States, and because of it, a good amount of business travel comes through the city. So, whether you are just passing through on route to another location or you have actually business inside the city, there are a few different bits of information that you need to be made aware of when arriving.

Avoid Renting a Car

If you have never been to the city, one of your first thoughts might be to rent a car. However, you couldn't make a bigger mistake. Renting a car in Chicago is almost the equivalent as renting a car in New York or another major city of several million individuals. There simply is no need to do this and you are going to find that it not only is difficult to drive in the city, but there is no place to put your car at all. Thankfully, public transportation is superior to most other major cities in the United States, so avoid renting a car at all costs.

O'Hare Hilton

If you are just passing through Chicago on business but you have an extended layover, there is no need to actually head into the city. Taking a cab or the subway to the city is time consuming and can cost you a bit of money, so instead, you might as well just pick up a room inside of the airport. The O'Hare Hilton gives you a room right inside of the airport, and with access to a few excellent restaurants, you might forget that you actually are in an airport.

Direct Subway to the Airport

When arriving in one of the two major airports in Chicago, you probably need to find a way into the city. There are taxi services available at the airport, but as is the case with most major international airports, the locations are well outside of the downtown area, which means you are going to pay a pretty penny to make your way into the city. However, there is a direct subway line to both O'Hare and Midway airports, so you never have to worry about actually finding a way to downtown, as you only have to walk a few feet from baggage claim and you have your option. Best of all, you never have to actually take a step outside as the subway goes directly through the airport. This way, you don't have to go outside in the dead of winter and wait for the train to arrive.

When visiting the city of Chicago for business, you need to know a few specifics that are going to help you thrive in the city. While there are other bits of knowledge you need to know in order to improve your business trip even more, you ultimately are going to find with this information that it is far easier to thrive in the city of Chicago while on business.
